Meditating on the notion of ‘glass as skin’, as a way of conveying an experience of space and bodily memory. It draws on a broader interest in architecture, particularly how built spaces, with their shadows and voids, can enclose the body, and influence how the body moves and responds to space. The work explores the idea of the body as a mold for space. It materialises a dialogue between form and spatial phenomena, like the palpitating, enveloping and ambiguous qualities of shadow, but reflected in a dioramic scale.
The work plays with sensory as well as material tensions in black glass: between shadow and light, the tactile and the intangible, lightness and weight, moment and memory, movement and stillness, the familiar and the alien.
